SIZING & FIT FAQ's
Find your weight (lbs) along the horizontal axis and your height (feet) along the vertical axis to determine which size is most likely to fit your body. If you’re in between sizes, we recommend sizing up for optimal comfort and performance.
When you release all the tension from the control dials, it should feel like a snug pair of leggings. If it still feels tight after the tension has been released or if the fabric appears to over-stretch, we recommend sizing up. Conversely, if the fabric is baggy or loose, we recommend sizing down.
30-day risk free trialWith the complexity of the K1 we have limited technical capacity in what we can produce at this time. It is our intention to be able to offer more sizes in the future. Given where you land on the sizing chart, we cannot suggest that the K1 will provide the support you need.
The K1s are likely going to feel tight to start and they may take a few minutes to get on during the first few wears. Please don't worry because they will conform to your body and get easier to put on over time. Here's how to put them on:
- When putting them on, first pull out the control dials to disengage the support, and stretch the waistband firmly to relax the Embrace System™.
- Sit down and position the cuff over the ankle (slightly higher for the K1 Tempo).
- Position the "X" pattern at mid shin.
- Pull up and align the lightest grey laminate with the bend of your knee.
- Stand up and pull the waistband over your hips.
- Once they are on, you can tug firmly on the high strength cables. Pulling on the cables to adjust and then moving in them is the best way to get them to conform.
Pulling firmly on the high strength cables, tugging at the waistband and then moving in them (ex: squat, lunge, walk) is the best way to conform the tights to your body. It may take a couple uses for the Embrace System™ to break them in.
To take them off, pull both control dials away from your lower back to release the tension in the Embrace System™. Next, pull out the waistband and work the K1s down the leg. You may need to take a seat to guide the ankle/calf cuffs over your ankles and feet.
Watch the videoThe K1s aren't meant to feel like a regular pair of athletic tights, because they are something entirely different. There is a short break-in period with the K1s. This means it will take a bit of time before your tights begin to regulate to your body. Some athletes find greater tension around the waist when they first begin wearing them but with time they find they loosen. To help you find comfort during the break-in period, please follow these steps:
- First, makes sure the control dials are engaged and tightened.
- Pull the waistband away and out from your body to redistribute tension.
- Next, pull the cable channels down your legs to allow more space.
- Tighten the control dials again and repeat a few more times.
The steps above should help create more space for the cable, which will allow for movement and help reduce the overall tension around your stomach.
There is a short break in period with the K1s so they may feel tight to start. It is also important to note that the Embrace System™ is anchored between your ankles/calves and your waist. This means that the more you engage the cable tension, the tighter your K1s will feel and the more support you will have in compromised positions. However, if your tights still feel uncomfortably tight after a few wears, you may want to consider sizing up.
Our products are worn and trusted by many skiers and snowboarders. The K1s will fit nice and snug under your ski/snowboard boot similar to a traditional base layer. Some athletes prefer to wear their K1s over their socks while others prefer the other way around.
Finding the right tension for you will take a bit of time at the beginning. Once you get the K1s on, follow these steps to properly adjust your tights:
- Push the dials in towards the hips at the back to ‘engage’ the system.
- Turn each dial towards the outside of the leg to increase the tension / tighten them.
- To further regulate the cables, we suggest engaging in lots of movement (ie: activity).
- If you wish to speed up the regulation process, you can increase the tension and pull the waistband away from the body. This will allow the cable to move throughout the tight. Repeat this process until you find the right level of tension.
Depending on the level of tension you’ve applied, the K1s can feel anywhere from a normal pair of snug leggings to a strong hug around your lower body.
The Embrace System™ is designed to engage when your knee is in compromised positions and should otherwise feel much more comfortable than a traditional knee brace. We recommend testing it yourself while adjusting the tension in controlled conditions to feel and trust the support.
