Mogul Skier FIS (ALUM)
Robbie Andison
Tell us about you! Why and how did you get into your sport?
My name is Robbie Andison and I'm from Oakville, Ontario. I have always loved skiing. I would ski with my family every weekend growing up. When I was 10 years old, my friend invited me to go to a water ramp camp with him. I went and instantly fell in love with freestyle skiing. The following year I joined the freestyle ski team at my home club - Holimont.
What's a fun fact about you?
I'm very into surfing, I surf the Great Lakes throughout the year as long as they don't freeze over. Also, I have a pilot's licence.
What are your goals and aspirations?
My goal is to live a long active life where my body is not holding me back from doing the activities I love.
What has been your biggest challenge throughout your career? How did you overcome it?
I dislocated my knee in 2015, tearing my ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL. I was told I would never ski again but I worked my butt off, came back and climbed my way up the ladder to earn myself a spot on the full World Cup tour.
Injury is a part of life and sport - how did you deal with yours?
I deal with injury by working as hard as I can in rehab. When faced with an injury, I have always found a sport that I could do to keep me busy and motivated during my recovery. I also do a lot of gym work to prevent injury.
What gets you the most excited about Stoko?
I've always hated wearing a knee brace. They are restricting and always slide out of position. When I read about Stoko, I was blown away that a pair of comfortable tights could offer the same amount of stability as my current knee brace. I fell in love with them right away.
Favourite snack before/after a sweat session?
Dinner! I love timing a workout so I get to eat dinner right after.
